HYDROXYCHOROQUINE is an old antimalarial drug it’s been around since the 1950s. it is a generic medication. It is an oral drug which is used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus & porphyria cutana tarda.

A study in China has revealed that COVID-19 patients who underwent the chloroquine treatment, had clinical & virology benefit as compared to the others. The chloroquine was used as an antiviral for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Currently, the chloroquine of HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE are highly recommended for COVID-19 infected patients.

Chloroquine is different from HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE which is an anti-malaria drug.

For preventive treatment, the HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE has been recommended by the national task force for coronavirus, in India. But it recommended for an asymptomatic healthcare worker (if a person is having a disease or infection but he/she is not experiencing any symptoms, the disease is considered asymptomatic.

Two weeks earlier, India had banned the exports of HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak. But us president Donald trump suggested retaliation if India doesn’t lift the ban on HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE export.

Now it is decided that paracetamol & HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE would be licensed by India to all the neighboring nation. These two medicines would also be licensed to all those countries who are severely affected by this pandemic.
